The premises cover 8.5 acres, and are approximately 68,000 square feet and the company hope the move will create around 22 new jobs.

Local architects have been awarded the contract to carry out the redevelopment project for Alco, who have been based in Brighouse since its inception in 1977.

The company will also be continuing its relationship with local colleges, where they have taken on many of their students for apprenticeships.

Alco has also employed many gap year students from the University of Huddersfield for both undergraduate and graduate positions.

Some of the students have gone on to hold managerial roles within the company and Alco has already started advertising for apprenticeship vacancies to begin in August.

In 2014, Alco were awarded the Queens Award for Enterprise in the international trade category.

Sam Crossley, managing director of Alco Valves Group, stated: “Alco is proud to continue its association with Brighouse where we have been based for nearly 40 years, this investment in a new facility will bring further highly skilled jobs to the area.

“Our production facilities and support functions are currently very fragmented, located over several sites. This new facility brings all the manufacturing together in a single location allowing for efficient workflow and the elimination of duplicated tasks. The modern open plan office will improve communication and coordination between functions ultimately improving the service to our customers.”

Success in recent years has created demand for the expansion, with Alco also introducing a new product range, Alco-Lok Compression Fittings.
