Protest outside Sainsbury's in Halifax calling on the supermarket to stop selling goods sourced in Israel

Halifax Friends of Palestine supporters were out in force on Saturday outside the Sainsbury’s store in the town, with protest songs, flags, leaflets and speeches.

The two hour long event was part of a national campaign day, designed to persuade top management at Sainsbury’s to stop selling products sourced from Israel.

Founder member and chair of the Friends of Palestine group, Councillor Jenny Lynn said: “The terrible pictures of children and families being killed by Israeli bombs in Gaza has really affected people here – more than fifty people took part in our action throughout the morning. Boycotting Israeli goods is one peaceful way of showing our solidarity and support with the people of Palestine, who continue to suffer so much.”
