The latest survey from the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry reports a gloomy picture.
During the last three months sales and orders have risen slowly, employment has remained static and businesses remain pessimistic.
Chamber President David Horsman said the region’s economy continued to bump along the bottom with litle sign of sustained recovery.
“In spite of some minor positives the overall picture continues to indicate that business confidence remains at a low level,” he said.
“And, it is clear that employment and investment decisions are being strongly affected by ongoing uncertainty.”
The chamber, and others across the UK, are lobbying for the Government to encourage economic growth as a matter of urgency and to incentivise businesses to bring forward investment and expansion plans.
