Firm joins work hope for young: Scheme to train and secure jobs

DRIVER and industrial recruitment firm Transline-Resource joined Cherie Blair at the UK launch of a scheme helping young people into work.

The firm, which has its headquarters in Commercial Street, Halifax, signed up to the Sarina Russo Job Access GB at the launch in Coventry, organised by Australian businesswoman and "Backing Young Britain" pioneer, Sarina Russo.

Transline-Resource was keen to join the scheme and expects to get scores of young people trained and employed.

Managing director Paul Beasley said: "With a 19.1 per cent unemployment rate, the plight of young people in the UK is currently dire.

"We've invested heavily in worker training so we are in the perfect position to nurture young talent into the world of work.

"We've already placed a number of people in work through the 'Backing Young Britain' scheme."

The event, held at Sarina Russo Job Access GB's head office in Coventry, was opened by former prime minister Tony Blair's wife, Cherie Blair, who gave a speech.

Representatives from Transline-Resource also spoke with other key partners, including Marks and Spencer, Tesco, SERCO and New Look.

As part of the scheme, Transline-Resource will guarantee interviews for young people and inclusion in company training schemes.

Director Mark Elms said: "In the current economic climate young people have been stuck between a rock and a hard place.

"Through no fault of their own, many are trapped, possessing the desire to work but lacking the experience to establish themselves in the world of work.

"We will do everything in our power to help as many of them as possible through these tough times."

Transline is part of the Transline-Resource Recruitment Group, with 27 offices across the UK.

In 2008 the Transline Training Team was formed to provide in-house driver training at its sites across the UK.

The team has developed into a training centre which gives external training to client companies for drivers and warehouse staff.
