Helping keep the lives of others as sweet as possible
NESTLE has made sweets in Halifax for decades - but the company is always looking for new community initiatives to support.
Despite being one of the largest food companies in the world it insists on making positive contributions to local charities - and that is why the firm has chosen to support the Courier's Community and Environment Awards.
It will sponsor the Best New Charity gong.
Martin Cruft, Halifax factory manager, said: "This particular award sits well with Nestl as the company is committed to making positive contributions to the communities in which it operates.
"Our employees in the confectionery division are working with The Variety Club Children's Charity to help disadvantaged and disabled children in areas local to our factories.
"Our factory fundraised so well last year that we managed to raise enough money to buy a Sunshine Coach for Ravenscliffe High School. Look out for it tootling around town."
Nestle, based at Albion Mills, employ 600 people in Halifax - and the factory prides itself on environmental responsibility.
Mr Cruft added: "More and more consumers are aware that their choice of food can impact their own quality of life, but also affect other people and they want what they eat and drink to be produced responsibly, with respect for the environment.
"Our overall business strategy is based on creating shared value and enhancing quality of life - not only through good food and beverages, but throughout the company's operations."
