THE higher eduction sector is helping firms through the recently launched Business Growth Calderdale project.
It is a partnership between Calderdale Council, Bradford University, Leeds Metropolitan University and Community Partnership Solutions Ltd.
Backed by European funding the project will harness the expertise of the higher education sector to benefit local businesses.
That will include providing access to research, and support for innovation and product development with the aim of helping companies grow and prosper.
Mayor of Calderdale Coun Nader Fekri launched the project at the Shay stadium and said it would build on current initiatives such as the Economic Task Force.
“We have seen a 30 per cent increase in the number of start-ups from 2008 to 2011 – the best performance in West Yorkshire. This project – “Business Growth Calderdale” - is aimed at helping those young businesses to survive and prosper – but also at helping our existing businesses to innovate and become more competitive.”
