Highlighting successful Calderdale businesses
The Courier's inaugural business awards last year became the most talked-about event on this area's business calendar.
The event was hailed a resounding success.
People said it was just what Calderdale had been crying out for - an opportunity to celebrate the things that make our corner of Yorkshire great. A chance to acknowledge and reward the enterprises and the individuals that really make our local economy tick.
Even before the last celebratory glass of bubbly was enjoyed at last year's prestigious event, plans were being laid to make the awards an annual event.
And so we are back to announce the Courier Business Awards 2008, to be staged in association with our main sponsorship partners Halifax Bank of Scotland Business Banking, and Chadwick Lawrence Llp.
Once again the awards will culminate with a gala presentation dinner at Berties Banqueting Suite at Elland. Once again we'll be highlighting the cream of commerce, industry and marketing in Calderdale.
The categories have been refined and extended to recognise an even broader range of business talent and initiative.
We will be searching for the very best of Calderdale business in the categories new business, international business, young business person, innovator, entrepreneur, small to medium enterprise and manufacturer of the year.
For the first time we will also be giving a lifetime achievement award to one of Calderdale's business giants.
One again our blue ribbon awards will go to Calderdale's business of the year and business person of the year - the outstanding individual and business of the area.
The competition is likely to be keen and the awards evening promises to be even better than last year's glittering event.
We hope you'll be part of of it.
How to nominate
Two of last year's most popular categories - business in the community and business in the environment - have been split out and expanded into their own event, our inaugural Community and Environment Awards in partnership with the Community Foundation for Calderdale.
