DRY cleaning shops in Halifax and Brighouse are facing an uncertain future.
Johnson Service Group has announced that it intends to close 100 loss-making stores out of a total of 460 as part of a reorganisation plan which is expected to save the company almost £24 million.
Details of which shops are to go have not yet been disclosed but the shake-up is expected to lead to at least 300 job losses by the end of the year.
The two Calderdale shops are in Commercial Street, Halifax, and Commercial Street, Brighouse.
The group says that a typical outlet has one full-time and two part-time employees.
Job losses are also expected among warehouse and administrative staff.
Johnson is based in Cheshire and has seen sales decline by 2.7 per cent in the first half of this year.
Company chairman John Talbot said: “We believe that the measures we have taken will re-focus the group into a more streamlined and profitable business.”
Johnson recently opened a drive-through shop in Staffordshire.
