FORMER Sowerby Bridge resident Justin Hawkins will team up with Lady Gaga on her world tour.

Justin, lead singer of the recently reunited glam rock band The Darkness, lived in Sowerby Bridge while studying music at Huddersfield Technical College.

He will join pop diva Gaga on the European leg of her tour later this year.

In 2006, Justin sensationally walked out on the band after a secret battle with drug addiction and alcoholism.

After he quit, the band – which includes his brother Dan Hawkins – split up but announced they were getting together last year. During their first stint together, the band became known for their outrageous catsuits and the smash hit I Believe In A Thing Called Love, which reached number two in the UK singles charts.

In 2003, their first album, Permission To Land, sold over two millions copies and won them three Brit Awards. But their second effort failed to impress.

Now the band have confirmed they will support Lady Gaga for two nights in September at Twickenham Stadium as part of her tour.

Hawkins admitted spending £150,000 on cocaine in three years at the height of his addiction.
