Dozens of businesses were represented at a programme of events aimed at driving firms forward and building networking links.

Seminars, a business clinic, and an exhibition promoting firms across the region were all accommodated at the Shay Stadium.

Delegates came and went throughout the full day of events and guest speakers included two local businessmen Tony Abbott, of Reactiv Media and Chris Hopkins, of roofing firm Ploughcroft.

Calderdale College was among the exhibitors promoting the value of apprenticeships.

Kerry Shepherd, college apprenticeship co-ordinator, said it was an opportunity to meet with representatives of many companies face-to-face.

“We want to get the word out about apprenticeships and the benefits for companies as well as the individuals,” she said.

“Grants are available for taking on apprenticeships and that is helpful to smaller companies. The people I’ve spoken to today have been interested and it’s a worthwhile event for us.”

Davis Adams, of Hi Tech Business Machines, Huddersfield, is a regular attender at the conferences.

“It puts us in the market place and next time companies are looking at machines they remember Hi Tech. It’s not just about doing business on the day.”

The Calderdale Business Conference is part of the Yorkshire Business Conferences programme.
