The award winning beer from Ampleforth Abbey’s Benedictine monks which is brewed by Little Valley Brewery, Cragg Vale, is on its way to France.

It was crowned “Yorkshire’s Best Drink” by the Deliciously Yorkshire organisation and now thousands of bottles have been bought by a French distributor.

Ampleforth Prior Father Terence said the French link has a history because when Benedictine monks were driven to France from England at the time of the Reformation they brewed beer to survive and when they returned to England in the late 18th century they brought back brewing skills with them.
