THE TEACHER sacked after writing a racy novel involving her pupils has been signing copies of her new book.

Leonora Rustamova was at Hebden Bridge Bookshop, Crown Street, signing copies of the book which covers the controversial story that left her without a job.

Around 100 people turned out for the signing, with 85 copies sold in 90 minutes.

Miss Rustamova, known as Miss Rusty to former pupils at Calder High, Mytholmtroyd, said the new book told the story behind the novel Stop! Don’t Read This, which was aimed at helping unruly pupils.

The new book is published by Hebden Bridge-based Bluemoose Books.

Kevin Duffy, from Bluemoose, said: “It was a stunning success, definitely the biggest signing we’ve ever had.

“The book instantly became the best-selling book in the shop.”

In March Miss Rusty lost her claim against Calder High for unfair dismissal after she was sacked in 2009.

An employment tribunal ruled by a majority verdict that it was right she was sacked.
