Around 250 music lessons are now held each month at a Halifax studio which has doubled in size to meet demand.
RAW Studios at Old Lane offers tuition covering drums, guitar, piano, bass and vocals.
Owner Richard Wilson left a career in IT to concentrate full-time on drumming and running the business in 2008.
He has since recruited 10 tutors on a self-employed basis who operate from the sound-proofed premises.
The 37-year-old has been playing drums since the age of nine and said the business had grown rapidly because it put fun into learning.
“We ask what people want to do and work on the theory and techniques rather than wading through book after book,” he said.
“It’s not a school but fun and fresh and that is making a big difference.
“It keeps people interested and then learning is fun.”
The age range of learners is from six to 65.
Mr Wilson said when the opportunity arose to expand into the adjoining unit he jumped at the chanced.
“We now have over 1,000 sq ft and can now offer a host of new services,” said Mr Wilson.
They include music industry courses and from March the studios will host exams for the new rock and pop syllabus for Trinity College London.
