Our gala night of local pride
THE first ever Evening Courier Community and Environment Awards paid tribute to the cream of Calderdale's unsung heroes, volunteers and green gods at a glittering awards ceremony in Elland.
The awards were run in partnership with the Community Foundation of Calderdale amd main sponsors HBOS.
Judges determined the winners in ten categories choosing from three nominations in each.
The evening, hosted by Calderdale actor Paul Opacic, and attended by the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, was attended by more than 175 nominees, sponsors, dignitaries and their guests.
Live music, a three course meal and a samba band completed the ceremony.
