Businessman and Sowerby Bridge rotarian, Roger Bancroft, 62, has lost his nine-month battle with cancer.
More than 350 people attended his funeral.
Mr Bancroft was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award for his outstanding contribution to rotary.
He travelled to India and Africa to work on rotary projects and was a founder of the charity Acorn (Aid for Children Of Romania Now).
Mr Bancroft set up Flowquip Ltd, Flowhire Ltd, Contrec Europe Ltd and Contrec Manufacturing Ltd.
“He just wanted to help everybody,” said his daughter Lucy Wood.
“He was very kind and generous with a great sense of humour and he seemed to know everything.”
Mr Bancroft, of Dean Head, Scammonden, attended South End School, Elland, Warley Road School, Halifax, and Kayes College, Huddersfield.
He also leaves his wife, Pam, son Matthew and step children Louise and Thomas, and two grandchildren Hannah and William.
