A Halifax firm has taken a grip on the national map with the opening of four new factories and eight trade centres.
Polyframe Trade Ltd has grown 130 per cent during the last three years with rapid expansion through the economic downturn.
It is the UK’s biggest independent producer of PVCu windors, doors and conservatories.
The head office and factory at Gibbet Street employs 200 where more than 5,000 windows and doors are produced weekly.
In 2011 Polyframe acquired Aspen Windows, of Norwich, and in 2012 Radley Windows, of Oxford, which specialises in niche products.
This year Turkington Windows in Northern Ireland was bought and a new factory in Mansfield has been opened to manufacture composite doors.
A network of trade centres are being built up across the UK to supply Polyframe products to the smaller installers.
Marketing manager Simon Loker said the business - formed just over 20 years ago - had continued to invest and had built up a quality reputation.
And, it had now positioned itself to capitalise on a wider market share.
“There is still a lot of work in the market,” he said.
“People are improving their properties and we are now moving into second generation PVCu.”
The Halifax factory has generally supplied independent retailers and the business sees significant growth opportunities from opening its own trade centres and offering local window installers a complete product package and a local point of contact.
“The Group is now in a great position to meet customer demand for the whole of the UK,” said Mr Loker.
Polyframe has created 160 jobs over the last three years and group turnover exceeds £40 million and the total workforce exceeds 450.
“Polyframe sees its employees as an integral part of the business,” said Mr Loker.
“Recently all shop floor employees at Halifax and Norwich completed either NVQ level two or three,” said Mr Loker.
With its range of in-house products and a quick turnaround, the company believes it has strengthened its position as a market leader.
Polyframe currently supply the UK market with more than 8,000 windows and doors each week and with the recent investment now has the capacity to produce 13,000 windows and doors weekly.
