Sales boost for local education specialists

Halifax-based educational software developer Formative Data Systems has seen sales increase by more than 220 per cent in the last two trading months.

Since the company was founded in 2012 by former deputy head teacher Scott Parkin, it has enjoyed continued growth, with expected turnover to reach £500,000 by 2016.

Drawing on his teaching background, Scott created Early to Primary Essence, a software tool that allows nurseries and schools to track the progress of students from birth to 11-years-old and share the data with teachers and parents.

The system is now used in Spain, UAE, Dubai, Malaysia and Thailand and in 147 pre-schools and more than 300 schools in the UK.

The company is also working to align it’s Early to Primary Essence system with Early Excellence to help clients produce report data. This partnership with the UK’s leading early years and training provider has resulted in a significant increase in awareness and respect for the software product.

In response to increasing demand, the company, Northedge Park in Hipperholme, has expanded its sales and training team with the appointment of three new consultants and is in the process of moving to new premises to accommodate its team for future growth.

The business has also enjoyed growth in the independent schools sector thanks to a partnership with leading school information system developer Double First Limited, which has introduced and distributed the software systems to fee paying nurseries, pre-prep schools and fee prep schools worldwide.
