Halifax based affordable housing specialist Southdale has scooped a prestigious construction award for its work with young people.
Southdale won the Training Award at the Committed to Construction in West Yorkshire Awards 2012.
Bev Robinson, HR Director of Southdale, said: “Our passion for, and commitment to training our employees runs throughout the business and here in West Yorkshire, the firm’s heartland, it is especially strong, with a 15 year track record of creating employment and training opportunities.
“We work closely with a range of employment and educational partners such as Leeds Metropolitan University, Leeds College of Building, Salford University and Stockport College and carry out a number of initiatives which have enhanced the learning of their students and, ultimately, their qualification grades.
“Southdale also works hard to ensure this commitment to training is reflected by sub-contractors across all of our sites, whether they be in Leeds, Manchester or Redcar.
“It is important that we become involved with local communities and create these opportunities for people in the areas in which we operate.
“Not only does this ensure we are working toward developing a skilled workforce for the sector, but also for the local economic good.”
