A taxi driver is enjoying a new career as a takeaway owner at The Bridge Kitchen, on West Street, Sowerby Bridge.
The long-established business was acquired by Chan Singh in 2010 and has now secured funding to buy the freehold and refurbish the premises which now gives him a rental income from an upstairs flat.
“I had always wanted to change career and open my own business,” he said.
“When the opportunity to take over the deli came up, I jumped at the chance and could immediately see its potential for growth.”
Funding came from Lloyds TSB Commercial Banking and Mr Singh said it was reassuring the bank had the same faith in the business as he did.
Bank relationship manager Jeremy Meadowcroft said: “Switching careers is never an easy decision to make, but for Chan it is a decision that has really paid off. Under his leadership, The Bridge Kitchen has undergone some really positive changes and we were really keen to help support this popular local company.
“At Lloyds TSB Commercial Banking we make it a priority to work closely with all of our customers in order to establish what support will work best for their business.”
