Teamwork leads to national final spot
TEAMWORK has helped Halifax hairdresser Saks win the Central Region Salon of the Year crown for the first time.
The town centre salon beat more than 50 others to reach the national final of the competition with the winner due to be announced in January at the Cafe de Paris in London.
Owner Bryn Bevan is hoping it will be a successful springboard for business expansion.
"We have always been keen on customer service and training but we would like to expand the floor space so that we would have an entrance in the new shopping centre.
"The Westgate Centre canopy is an exciting development for Halifax and we want to be part of it," he said.
The company has invested heavily in staff training, the salon and technology to ensure Saks can deliver the latest treatments to all clients.
Salons are judged on sales performance, training, skills as well as customer service.
"It is a really tough award to win. Competition between salons is tough and the criteria for achievement is diverse.
"In addition to ensuring staff are trained on the latest trends in both hairdressing and beauty therapy, there is a big onus on salons to invest in delivering the latest treatments in hair care and beauty," he said.
"But customer service is very important and I am a big believer in looking after existing clients as well as attracting new ones."
