THE Game store on Southgate Precinct, Halifax, has new owners following the collapse of its parent group.
Administrators Pricewaterhouse Coopers were called into the troubled video games retailer last week and closed 227 stores including the Game Station, Woolshops, Halifax.
The Southgate operation continued to trade and is among 333 UK stores bought by Baker Acquisitions Ltd.
The agreement safeguards nearly 3,200 Game employees including some staff previously employed at the company’s head office. Nine jobs were lost with the closure of the Woolshops store and 2,100 in total from the 227 stores that ceased trading. There are no plans for further store closures.
