Todmorden was put firmly on the map with a weekend of events which attracted locals and people from further afield.

Shops, businesses and organisations all got involved supporting Love Your Local Market Week and Made in Tod.

Incredible Edible ran events which included promoting leisure and increasing footfall in the town centre with the laying of grass turf on Water Street.

Visitors enjoyed tasting sessions on market stalls and there was fun and games all day and into Saturday evening when there was an extended food market set up on the Todmorden Market site.

Different types of cuisine were cooked for the public to sample while they enjoyed musical entertainment.

During Saturday afternoon the annual Made in Tod attracted over 500 people through the doors of Todmorden Town Hall.

Todmorden Business Association Chairman Michael Uren said it had been a great promotion for the town all round.

“Everything went really well and it was great to see the market really busy,” he said.

“The turf in Market Street looked amazing.

“We had a lot of businesses represented at the Town Hall and there was plenty for the children.

“It was excellent for Todmorden and I think we raised the profile of the town.

“And, I think it showed how important a market is to a town and how important it is to support local businesses.

“Although the weather was against us, we must have had 1,000 people from out of the area on Saturday who don’t usually visit.”
