Training sessions make for smoother running for lubrications firm

GROUP training sessions have been used to help get working practices up to speed at a growing lubrication firm.

Halifax-based Kluber Lubrication GB, headed by managing director Peter Webster, was determined to make sure its human resource operations were running more smoothly.

The company, which employs 27 people at its Northowram site, is a subsidiary of the multi-national German company Kluber Lubrication.

The business sought advice from Leeds human resources consultancy Fluid on areas such as employee contracts, staff handbooks, job descriptions and succession planning.

A major focus of the project was how to handle new industry legislation.

Kluber's Northowram site houses technical support, warehousing, sales and finance departments.

Mr Webster said: "We supply industrial lubricants to a host of FTSE 100 companies such as Premier Foods, Coca Cola, Britvic and GlaxoSmithKline.

"We do not have a dedicated human resources department, with senior staff responsible for specific functions.

"As the business has grown we have recognised the need to improve our human resources practices and procedures.

"Not only do we have to keep up with new legislation but we have to ensure that it is disseminated to all staff, and this has led us to wanting to do more to develop our people."

Fluid managing director, Tim Holden, took charge of the training sessions.

A confidential employee survey was also completed.

"Kluber recognised the importance of taking a proactive approach to human resources in order to save both money and time as the organisation grows," said Mr Holden.

Mr Webster added: "Fluid provided exceptional support to the business, and contributed to a much more positive atmosphere, improved morale and higher levels of employee engagement."
