Trustee board of the year: Board honoured for brilliant job
IT is responsible for directing £2 million worth of funding into one of Calderdale's most disadvantaged areas.
Now the board of Halifax Opportunities Trust has been recognised for the incredible responsibility placed on their volunteer shoulders after being named Trustee Board of the Year, sponsored by Finn Gledhill, at the Courier's inaugural Community and Environment Awards.
The group is made up of 15 trustees who are extremely diverse in age, ethnicity, gender, and social and cultural backgrounds and who make strategic decisions on the future direction of the trust.
Chief executive Barbara Harbinson said: "I go to a lot of national conferences all over and I have always said this is the best trustee board in the country.
"They have so much different experience between them, it is a pleasure to work with them. They are absolutely brilliant in every aspect."
The judges agreed saying the collection did "what could only be described as a magnificent job."
Steve Duncan of the Community Foundation for Calderdale picked the trophy up in the trust's absence.
