Residents and commuters are bracing themselves for several months of congestion caused by improvement work on the A629 Ainley Top roundabout.
Workmen are preparing to start today(Mon) on a five month £2 million project finishing in June.
Improvements are needed ahead of a new housing development on nearby Lindley Moor.
Most of the work will be done from 8 pm and 6 am to limit disruption on the busy route linking Halifax and Huddersfield and giving access to the M62.
Work will not take place at night during weekends and bank holidays.
The roundabout will be closed to traffic for six weeks during the evening and night in May and early June to enable resurfacing to complete the scheme.
The roundabout will be widened to three lanes with new traffic lights on each approach and exit.
