The Minister was in Halifax to see first-hand how the Orange Box was serving young people and how the centre is receiving specialised voluntary support from businesses.

Mr Hurd said: “I want to make sure that young people have access to high quality opportunities - to learn, to develop themselves, to challenge themselves, to pick up new skills.

“We know that young people are growing up in incredibly challenging circumstances, and they need support and guidance more than ever.

“Organisations like the Orange Box are really important, and it’s good to see it buzzing and working well.

“What I’ve seen today is some very imaginative ways for local businesses to come in and support the staff and young people here.”

The Orange Box has been given a boost though the work of charity Talentpledge which sets up specialist volunteers from business to provide bespoke support for charities.

Insurors Simply Health have pledged to provide customer service training and qualifications for staff and volunteers at the centre.

Michelle Beckett, CEO of Talentpledge, said: “Simply Health have great customer service, so it makes sense for them to bring in their skills.”
