A Calderdale beauty salon has been named as one of the best in the country.

Saks Beauty in Albion Street scooped a top award at the first ever regional Professional Beauty Awards.

The awards are known as the Oscars of the beauty world and held every year in London. This year the company held a regional awards ceremony attended by over 1,000 people in Manchester.

Saks was named as North West Beauty Salon of the Year. The area covers Liverpool, Manchester, Lancashire and parts of Yorkshire. It is the only Yorkshire winner.

The Halifax salon is owned by 33-year-old Becky Barraclough and has over 4,000 regular customers. Becky set up her own business 13 years ago within the former Saks hairdressers in Halifax. In 2011 she opened the first Saks stand-alone beauty salon in the country.

She employs eight staff and in the last 13 years has won nine awards. They include Saks Salon of the Year for the last two years, and a Halifax Courier Business Award.
