You can come in at any time: 24-hour access to Innovation Centre means better global working

THE ELSIE Whiteley Innovation Centre now offers 24 hour access for its tenant businesses.

It further strengthens the centre's aims of being at the forefront of technology, promoting modern working practices.

Pioneering fingerprint and code devices are being used to step up round-the-clock security.

And in the next few weeks a screen will be introduced to the atrium area which will display who is in the building.

Business development manager Ha Smith said: "It's taken a little while for the project to come to fruition as we wanted to explore all the security and safety issues surrounding the 24 hour access and ensure that it will be safe for our tenants. This access will allow our tenants much more flexibility to run their businesses."

She said it had become clear the centre needed to provide continuous access outside normal hours as its tenant businesses were growing and developing greater links with international partners.

Technology specialist AIDC Solutions Ltd, based at the centre, was recruited to produce the bespoke, secure system using the latest biometric scanning and access code combination.

Automatic identification and data capture products is cutting edge technology.

Now the offices can be accessed at any time, allowing tenants to work more flexibly with the demands of their business.

Alan Bell, director of Bell Consulting and Services, said: "Having 24-hour access to our office will mean not having to panic when the clock hits 7pm.

"We can stay on to meet customer deadlines without having to take everything home."

And Mark Povey, managing director of Safer Europe, said: "Being a sophisticated document protection and enhancement specialist, we spend a lot of time in conference with our American colleagues and international clients.

"The 24-hour opening means we can do this more efficiently from our office – rather than from home."
