Diamond Jubilee film ‘Calderdale Celebrates’ goes on sale next week.

The televised version of last year’s royal event is being sold at Halifax Minster and Harveys, with all proceeds supporting the Halifax Minster Appeal.

The £5 film is sponsored by the Courier, Lloyds Banking Group and the Community Foundation’s Gartland Family Trust and showcases the time Calderdale unleashed its community spirit in conjunction with the Jubilee.

The Mayor of Calderdale at the time, Coun John Hardy, attended more than 400 events – many of which Jubilee related, whilst the grand finale took place in the hills of Halifax with the lighting of the Beacon.

People can relive the Jubilee for themselves, as Elland’s Rex cinema hosts a free film show this Sunday, June 2, beginning at 2.30pm.
