THE secretary of a group campaigning for taxi drivers in Calderdale is stepping down from his post.

Sultan Hussain, who has been general secretary of Calderdale Private Hire Association for four years, is resigning.

He said his leaving is due to family and business commitments.

“It’s been a pleasure and a privilege working with the licensing team at Calderdale Council, the police, the Courier and members of the association,” he said.

“If I can be of any help in the future to any of these groups and if I have the time then I am here for any of them.”

Mr Hussain has helped highlight many issues that affect drivers across the district, including the risk of violence from passengers.
