THERE was disruption across the area last night as gale force winds continued to batter Calderdale.
Rush hour commuters faced a slow journey home as a tree was uprooted and fell onto a vehicle near the busy Calder and Hebble junction closing the route towards West Vale around 5pm.
Earlier in Roper Lane, Queensbury, a boy was taken to hospital when a garage roof collapsed in the gusty conditions.
The M62 was also affected by the weather around junction 21 Milnrow and 22 Ripponden and there were problems around Ainley Top junction 24 and Brighouse junction 25.
The Highways Agency warned drivers, especially those with high-sided vehicles, to take extra care as the winds gusted at speeds of up to 70 mph.
Weather forcasters said conditions would ease overnight but today will still be windy.
