Calderdale Royal Hospital staff are jumping for joy after scooping £100,000 in a works lottery syndicate.

The group of X-ray department employees, pictured, waited weeks to be told the news their numbers had been lucky in a Health Lottery draw after syndicate organiser Debbie Kendall didn’t believe they had been so lucky.

The day before the money was deposited in the group’s bank account, Debbie called a meeting at the hospital to break the good news.

“They thought I was joking but then they started whooping and shouting with excitement. Goodness knows what other people thought was going on,” said 60-year-old Debbie who has worked at the hospital for 29 years.

The team celebrated the win with a cheque presentation at The Woodman Inn, Huddersfield.
