Dorothy Holmes celebrated her 100th birthday with a party at Bankfield Care Home last weekend.
Dorothy’s niece Joyce and several of Dorothy’s friends attended the party, where she was given a cake, chocolates and flowers.
Dorothy was born in Carlton near Selby and lived in Brighouse and Sowerby Bridge before moving into Bankfield Car Home in 2008.
Joyce said: “We’re so thankful to Bankfield - they did us proud.
“It was absolutely beautiful. If we’d paid £40 a head it couldn’t have been better.
“She had a really good time and got a special card from the Queen, which she was really looking forward to getting.
“She got some lovely new clothes and looked gorgeous.
“The Mayor also came in to say hello and made everybody feel special.
“She also got a big handmade card from the Gingerbread lunch club, where she goes once a month.
“She used to work at Humphrey’s mill on Walton Street in Sowerby Briodge and some of her old colleagues also came to the party.”
