Nearly 8,000 patients will benefit from further improvements to the Beechwood Medical Centre, Keighley Road, Halifax.

Two new consulting rooms have been built to meet increased demand and the reception area has been expanded and refurbished to improve customer service.

The improvements follow-on from a new onsite pharmacy which was opened last year to provide a one-stop shop for clinical needs.

And, scans will in future be offered via an ultrasound service provider.

Practice manager Elliott Summers said the medical centre was working with its users and planning for the future.

He said the facilities were as good as anywhere in Calderdale and this month the centre started opening on Saturday mornings on a permanent basis to ensure patients could get to see a GP out of normal hours.

There is also a 24/7 appointment booking availability via the internet or telephone.

The practice has 7,800 registered users and has capacity to take on new patients.

It has recently been found fully compliant following its Care Quality Commission audit.

An open day was held to showcase the improvements which were opened by Halifax MP Linda Riordan.

She said: “This is a fantastic facility in the heart of the Ovenden community.

“I was delighted to open the centre and I know it will benefit thousands of local residents in the years to come.

“The centre is a great example of a medical centre serving the health needs of people of all ages in the community. It is a model of good practice.”
