The Elland community braved the downpours to revive an event that was first held eighty years ago.

Elland Lane Children’s Treat day was first established in 1934 and now thanks to the work of local people, the event has come back with a bang.

Held at Huddersfield Amateur Football Club at Old Earth, Elland, there were lots of entertainment to keep the family happy.

From zorbie balls, mountain biking from Mixenden Activity Centre, canoeing, wheelchair basketball and rugby to charity stalls including Overgate Hospice and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The project was supported by among others, Calderdale Festival Fund, Apsol Ltd (suppliers of chemicals to industry), Pennine Housing, Community First, and Morrison’s in Elland.
