Work-place experts ACAS has launched new guidance to help Yorkshire businesses prepare for potential issues that could arise during the Tour de France.
The event will make its way through Calderdale on Sunday and many roads will be sealed off, which may affect many workplaces in the area.
ACAS advises businesses in Yorkshire to have agreements in place beforehand that cover potential travel disruptions, road closures, time off requests, sickness absence, website usage during working hours and watching TV during sporting events such as the Tour de France.
Nick Dover, Yorkshire & Humber ACAS Director, said: “The Tour de France is the world’s biggest free sporting event and cyclists will be peddling their way through West, North and South Yorkshire on Saturday 5th July and Sunday 6th July. Staff will want to make sure that they work in tandem with their bosses to enjoy the event and keep things going in the workplace during the event.
“Employers who have prepared ahead of the race can avoid a potential crash in staff productivity and are much more likely to have a well oiled business whilst keeping their staff happy too.
“Our guidance published today can help managers get the best from their team riders and avoid any unnecessary punctures.”
