Children at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School were shocked to discover the wreckage of a UFO in their playground.

The area was cordoned off by the fire brigade and scientists dressed in white overalls presented a special assembly to explain the possible hazards of the wreckage before the children produced artwork and writing inspired by the mock alien landing.

Neil Tomkinson, Acting Deputy Headteacher, said: “It was a scary moment when I arrived to find bits of twisted metal, computer boards and wires over the grass. I hope we get some good writing out of the children from this.”
