A new Halifax convenience store has celebrated its launch with a £500 donation to their charity of the year Kirkwood Hospice.

Emily Kennedy, a fundraiser from Kirkwood Hospice, joined FC Halifax Town players Lois Maynard and Adam Smith to officially open the Tesco Express store on Free School Lane.

FC Halifax also donated 20 new football shirts which were handed out to the first 20 local children coming into the new store.

Store manager Mathew Asquith said: “We are enjoying meeting our new customers and hope Tesco will become a key part of the local community.”
