Brothers deny murder of Halifax man

Two brothers have both denied the murder of a Halifax man whose body was found in woodland in March.

Pawel Piotr Olszewski, 25 of Bromley Street, Dewsbury had previously pleaded not guilty to the murder of Marcin Siarczynski and at Leeds Crown Court his brother Krzysztof, 20 of Crawshaw Street, Ravensthorpe also denied the charge of murder.

Tahir Khan QC representing Krzysztof told the court that he admits the unlawful killing of Mr Siarczynski but denies any intention to kill him or cause him serious harm.

The killing is alleged to have happened at a former address of Krzysztof Olszewski in Jessamine Street, Ravensthorpe between between April 30 and July 31 last year.

The body of Mr Siarczynski was discovered this year on March 14 in a wooded area near to Low Mill Lane and close to the Calder and Hebble Navigation Canal at Ravensthorpe.

The court heard the trial could last up to three weeks and a date was set for October 24 before a High Court Judge.

The Recorder of Leeds, Judge Peter Collier QC told the pair through a Polish interpreter: “You will remain in custody until then. By August 26 with the help of your lawyers you must set out in detail in writing what your defences are and what you say about the prosecution case.”
