Calderdale Council tax increase - less than 2 per cent

Council leaders are searching for more spending cuts to avoid increasing council tax in April by more than 2 per cent and triggering a referendum.

Earlier this year, Calderdale Council was predicting that bills might have to go up by 3.5 per cent in 2013/14.

Labour leader Coun Tim Swift said there were still many uncertainties and enormous Government pressure to make savings but a draft budget would be published in January.
