It’s Red Nose Day - and we’re all going comedy crazy for Comic Relief.
Loads of laughs were in store as schools, businesses and communities throughout Calderdale found the whackiest ways of raising money for the annual charity appeal.
Pupils at Abbey Park Primary School were having a HAIR-larious time with a Hair Dare Do Day and dressing in red.
The madcap fundraising continued at Elland Cof E Junior and Infant School as children arrived in elaborate hats and shoes and went bonkers on the bouncy castle.
Pupils at Triangle Cof E primary school dressed up as their favourite super heroes while pupils at Foxhill Primary School, Queensbury, performed a specially composed Comic Relief song.
There were sweet treats galore in many of our schools including Field Lane Junior and infant, Rastrick; Riverside Juniors at Hebden Bridge and Rastrick High, who were taking part in a national bake-off. Hipperholme Grammar school students turned in up their pyjamas for a slumber party.
Local businesses are doing their bit for charity too.
Wayne from Wayne Anthony Barbers, Hipperholme, was planning to cut a brave client’s hair, blindfolded!
Staff and partners at Wilkinson Woodward solicitors in Halifax were going head-to-head in a bake-off which will be judged by chef Matthew Benson Smith from the Cooking School at Dean Clough.
Staff at Keelham Farm shop, Queensbury, dared customers to make purchases in their PJ’s. Taking some light relief in a well deserved break today was Mia Deans, nine, of Sowerby Bridge, who raised £68, baking and selling buns at mum Liz’s 40th birthday party, last weekend.
And Ella Mcnamara, 12 of Crossley Heath School and her pal Libby Mae-Emery, 11, of Lightcliffe Primary, ran 10 laps of Shibden Park, Halifax, in their onesies, raising over £100.
Staff from TK Maxx, Halifax, braved the cold last week and walked over 13 miles for money, raising £308.50 and tomorrow Todmorden market will hold a ‘Red Nose Food Trail’ sampling samosas to strawberry tarts.
