Proposed changes to car parks across Halifax will be advertised at numerous sites across the town centre this week.
The proposals will then be up for public consultation until Friday, September 20.
Calderdale Council plans to extend parking charges in the town until 8pm from the current cut-off point of 6pm Monday to Saturday.
The proposals include a planned maximum daily charge of £3 at a number of off-street car parks from Monday to Friday - saving drivers £2 from existing tariffs.
Free parking on Saturdays will be removed with a maximum £1 charge brought in at Cross Hills, Victoria Street, High Street and Mulcture Hall Road car parks.
Pay and display parking is set to be introduced on Skircoat Road.
At present there are no formal car parking spaces and the council says this system will create 45 spaces with an hourly rate of 50p and a maximum daily charge of £3.50.
A review of on-street parking will involve changing some existing parking spaces in the outer areas from short stay to long stay. The spaces would be charged at 50p per hour with a maximum charge of £3.50 per day. The proposals could be implemented later this year.
