Currys and PC World in megastore merger

TWO major electrical retailers in Halifax are to combine into one megastore.

Currys, in Charlestown Road, is currently undergoing major renovation work as it prepares to expand and merge with PC World.

They are both part of the Dixons Stores Group.

PC World, in Pellon Lane, is to close at the end of this week and all its staff will be moved over to the Currys site.

The Currys and PC World 2 in 1 superstore in Charleston Retail Park will open on March 26.

There will be a joint workforce of 55. No new staff will be taken on.

A spokeswoman said: "The new Halifax Currys and PC World Superstore provides the best of both brands under one roof, making shopping for electricals a much simpler and more enjoyable experience for customers.

"The new store will offer the widest ranges and best selection of electricals from both Currys and PC World."

Half of the Halifax Currys site is closed as renovation work continues while the other half is open for customers.

The new creation is part of an ongoing programme taking place across the country, where Currys and PC World stores are being combined to form these megastores.

They include Birstall and Keighley.
