Driver’s lucky escape as van hangs dangerously over stream

A van is left teetering over the edge of the Hebble Brook in Salterhebble this morning.

A van is left teetering over the edge of the Hebble Brook in Salterhebble this morning.

A van driver was fortunate to escape uninjured when his van stopped perilously close to the edge of the Hebble Brook after skidding on ice.

The incident happened this morning at around 7.30am at Bottoms in Salterhebble after rain turned to ice over night.

In a letter published in the Courier earlier this year, one resident warned of the danger facing drivers using the road because of the already collapsed wall.

This morning the police issued a warning to drivers about the difficult driving conditions, but there were several incidents reported, including a crash on nearby Huddersfield Road.
