Elland Working Men’s Club was splitting at the sides in a comedy night for a good cause.

International comedians took to the mic in a bid to raise a laugh and some cash for Parkinson’s UK.

Award winning British stand-up comedian Shazia Mirza who has appeared on the BBC programme Have I Got News For You entertained an audience of over 200 along with comedians Hayley Ellis, a regular contributor to XFM’s breakfast show, and Martin Semple - a young up and coming comedian cracking the latest gags on the scene.

The Friday February 7 comedy night was hosted by Laughing Gas Comedy Club compere Dave Cowan and guests enjoyed a pie and pea supper.

Bar staff Andrea Stevenson said: “The comedians were a good laugh and the night went really well.”

Ticket sales at £10 each, a raffle, and an auction raised over £1,000 for the charity that helps people suffering with the degenerative disorder of the central nervous system.
