End of era for Halifax nightspot Maine Street

It's time to party like it's 1988! Halifax club Liquid will mark the end of an era when it closes its Maine Street dance room next month to make way for a new venue.

Following a £500,000 investment, Liquid will open the doors to its new Vinyl retro disco room complete with VIP booths and Tiki cocktail bar on Friday, October 28.

To celebrate its last night on Saturday, September 10, Maine Street will host a nostalgic party night to remember, playing classic tracks from the year it opened in 1988 and 1990s dancefloor fillers.

General manager Adrian Broadhead said: “Maine Street has been a major part of the town’s nightlife for a long time and many people have happy memories of nights out here, but it’s time for it to be updated to attract a new generation and meet current trends.

“We want it to go out in style so we’re asking people who spent their younger years here to come and join us for one last time and give Maine Street a great send-off.

“The transformation plans are exciting. We’re looking forward to delivering a fantastic venue of the kind that Halifax has never seen before.”

Liquid club will continue to operate as normal before is also given a revamp and becomes ATIK and Vinyl.
