The family of a much-loved young mum from Halifax who died in a car crash are organising a fund raising night to boost safety on the roads.

Emily Phillips, 25 and from Boothtown, died in the accident in Boothtown which also left her two children and boyfriend injured last month.

Her cousin, Kirsty Phillips, is arranging a curry-oke night at Ziggy’s Spice House in Halifax town centre on Sunday night in Emily’s memory.

Proceeds from the night, which will include the takings from a raffle and some of the food and bar takings, will go to the Boothtown and Claremount Road Safety Group.

Staff from Ziggys have also volunteered to donate their wages from the night and the restaurant has donated several raffle prizes.

Kirsty, 18, said she hopes organising the event will help the road safety group’s work.

The event takes place between 6pm and 10pm.

Tickets are £12 per adult, with £4 going to the fund, and £7 for under 10s, with £3 going to the fund.

Saghir Hussain, owner of Ziggy’s Spice House, said he was pleased to be involved in the fund raising night and hoped they could raise over £1,000.
