The Halifax Heritage Festival promises a fascinating foray into the history of the borough.
A range of special events across the town will delve into Halifax’s cultural past, with museums and libraries opening their doors to the public between September 10-14.
There will be open days at Bankfield Museum, Shibden Hall, Calderdale Industrial Museum and Halifax Town Hall.
Former Calderdale Regeneration Manager Adrian Rose , who will lead a Hidden Gems tour on September 12, 13 and 14, said: “‘Although I was born in Bournemouth, I fell in love with Halifax and am always proud to show off the town.
“Whether people normally take an interest in local history or are just inquisitive about the centre, the walking tours will hopefully both surprise and fascinate.”
Emma Booth, Marketing Officer at Square Chapel, will take a nostalgic look back at Calderdale through film on September 13.
She said: “Our programme tells a wonderful story of places and people through the ages.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the new uses of some of the architectural gems.”
