The Fire Brigades Union has called further strikes over the holiday period starting tomorrow.
Firefighters will walk out on Christmas Eve from 7 pm to midnight and again on New Year’s Eve from 6.30 pm to 00.30 am and on January 3 from 6.30 am to 8.30 am.
The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service chiefs say they are confident that contingency measures will again prove successful but have asked the public to take extra care.
Assistant Chief Officer Dave Walton said: “The timing of this particular strike means that our emergency response capability will be reduced on Christmas Eve, and this means that people should take extra care so as not to require our services whilst firefighters are striking.
“If an emergency occurs our contingency plan will ensure that we can attend and deal with any incident.”
The FBU has staged a series of strikes in the continuing dispute with the Government over pension reforms.
