Service to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee at Halifax Minster.

Service to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee at Halifax Minster.

The closure of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations went with a bang despite having to cancel the fireworks.

Organised by Calderdale Council, the Community Foundation for Calderdale and Halifax Minster, people from all over Calderdale attended for what was a fitting closure to a fantastic year.

The Diamond Jubilee marked 60 years since The Queen came to the throne and has been celebrated by various events over the last 12 months.

To mark the service, led by The Rev Cannon Hilary Barber at Halifax Minster, there was performances from The Dance Academy at Ryburn Valley High School, Sikh drummers, and Diamond Gymnastics.

Lord-Lieutenant for West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe, said: “Thank you to everyone taking part in this unqiue service. I will never forget last year’s service and I am sure this year’s will be the same.”
